Cincinnati Children’s project Echo programs

Cerebral palsy (CP) can be detected as young as three months corrected age. Evidence shows that early diagnosis and early interventions are imperative to optimize development for young children with cerebral palsy. This ECHO will address informal and formal assessment tools that can be used for early detection of CP and evidence-based treatments for young children with CP. Participants will be able to connect with one another to discuss how to improve developmental outcomes for young children with CP and their families. 

Sessions are Tuesday’s bi-weekly from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM (EST)

Session Topics:

Topic 1: International guidelines that lead to early diagnosis and parent perspective regarding importance of early detection  

Topic 2: Screening for neonatal and infant detectable risk factors for CP as well as formal assessments used for diagnosis of CP  

Topic 3: Collaboration with interdisciplinary diagnostic team involving the Infant Motor Evaluation Clinic  

Topic 4: Evidence-Based, cerebral palsy specific, early motor interventions   

Topic 5: Evidence-Based, cerebral palsy specific, early speech and language interventions (including feeding, play and cognition) 

Topic 6: Caring for a child: A lifespan approach to CP (including a parent perspective)
